Estéreo Picnic is currently the biggest music festival in Colombia. For their 2024 edition I was commissioned to make all the illustrations that were used to promote the event. The project was done in close collaboration with SiegenCo, who were in charge of the design system and the typography work, and Páramo Presenta, the team behind the organization.The festival took place at Parque Simón Bolívar and had almost 160,000 attendees over four days.
The concept for this edition consisted in illustrating the festival as the Present. On the scene above, a time portal opens. The image was used to launch “Creyentes” (believers), a phase in which attendees can get their tickets for a cheaper price, before the line-up is even announced.
SCENES
The stone portal leads to the Present, a place that was depicted in a series of dreamy landscapes with people wandering around.
Some elements from the illustrations were present during the days of the festival appearing on props, merch, signs, banners and as part of the stage screens announcements.
Besides being featured on the festival’s official merch, some businesses at the event and unofficial vendors outside the park used the illustrations to promote their goods as well.
POSTER
For the lineup poster illustration, a hug between the sun and the rain generates a lake from which a rainbow emerges. Conceptually, this scene aimed to illustrate the origin of the portal to the Present.
A second poster was published later, featuring the artists by days ☆ The titles and layout on all these pieces were designed by SiegenCo.
VIGNETTES
Vignettes showing sequences of a raindrop turning into the rainbow, and a closed-eye opening, were used throughout the communication to symbolize the Present.
CHARACTERS AND ELEMENTS
Elements like the sun and the skies became characters on their own.
